10 reasons to visit Grays Antique Market
Nestled in the heart of Mayfair, lies a true treasure - Grays Antique Market. The impressive Grade II listed building was designed by celebrated Edwardian architect, Reginald Bloomsfield, and thanks to the careful restoration by Bennie Gray, Grays founder, the market has evolved to become a thriving hub for over 200 antique dealers.
Far from being just a market, Grays Antique Market offers a captivating glimpse into the rich history and culture of antiques. With a vast selection of unique and rare finds, it's no surprise that the market is considered one of the largest and most diverse antique markets in the world, attracting collectors and enthusiasts from around the globe.

Situated across from the Elizabeth Line exit of Bond Street station, the market caters to every individual's interests, whether you're a seasoned collector or a curious visitor like us.

There is a vast array of unique English pottery available, with dealers like Nick Boston of Nick Boston Antiques specialising in 10th Century pottery and porcelain. First time collectors can receive invaluable guidance from dealers who offer tailored advice based on their interests and budget. With the added context they provide, items become even more fascinating, and collectors can gain an educational experience while discovering the historical significance of treasured pieces. An excellent example of this was our visit to Pieces of Time where we had the pleasure of meeting the founder, Johnny Wachsmann.
He graciously showcased his extensive pocket watch collection, including a one that once belonged to Oliver Cromwell. It was an ideal chance for us to acquire invaluable tips on first-time collecting while also obtaining insight into the world of pocket watches.
Find a special engagement ring
At Grays you'll find a wide selection of exceptional, timeless engagement rings. With numerous shops to choose from, you can explore a wide range of options until you find the perfect ring that suits your style and budget. During our conversation with Saul from S Greenstein, he debunked the myth that all jewellery at Grays comes with a hefty price tag, showing us some antique engagement rings for prices starting at £500. The remarkable quality and variety of these rings make them an investment worth making. What's more, the potential for these one-of-a-kind pieces to appreciate in value over time only adds to the allure of finding your perfect engagement ring at Grays.
The art
Grays presents an impressive assortment of art, spanning from 16th century masterpieces to contemporary collections. The collection of Old Masters Drawings at Patrick Boyd-Carpenter Fine Art is remarkable, showcasing a selection of works that range from the 16th to the early 20th Century. Our visit left us in awe of the exceptional quality of the pieces on display and the unique stories they tell through their art.
Rah Gallery, - a contemporary art space showcasing a variety of artistic styles – can also be found at Grays. From crafted oil paintings to striking ceramic sculptures, mixed media, and stencil arts, the gallery features a talented cohort of artists from all over the globe, including Japan and Indonesia. During our visit, we were introduced to the works of Wooforginal, whose sculptures capture the concept of beauty in brokenness and the promise of restoration. These sculptures, crafted from broken tiles, serve as a poignant reminder of the duality of life - the despair of destruction and the optimism of rebirth. The emotion conveyed by Wooforginal's art spoke volumes to us, leaving a lasting impression.
Whether you're an art enthusiast looking to expand your knowledge or a collector seeking investment-worthy pieces, Grays is the perfect destination to indulge in your passion for art.
