The Crossrail Place Roof Garden is a captivating enclosed garden in Canary Wharf, featuring a diverse array of plants and trees that reflect the history and geography of the area. The garden pays homage to Canary Wharf's past as a trading hub, with many of the plants originating from countries visited by ships of the West India Dock Company. Divided into eastern and western hemispheres, the garden showcases Asian plants like bamboo in the east and ferns from the Americas in the west.

Designed by Foster + Partners, the roof garden's structure resembles a ship carrying unique and extraordinary specimens from around the world. The complex ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) lattice timber roof envelops the garden, allowing natural light and irrigation while creating a localised microclimate suitable for delicate and rare plants. The site's geographical proximity to the Prime Meridian, dividing the eastern and western hemispheres, inspired the garden's division and planting into two distinct geographic zones.

Internally, the garden features a central landscaped walkway with branching paths, offering visitors the opportunity for chance encounters and a genuine sense of escape from the urban environment. The main walkway ensures easy navigation, while scattered seating areas provide spaces for relaxation and gatherings.
