The Ballet National de Marseille, in collaboration with artist collective (LA)HORDE, presents the UK premiere of Roommates at the Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall from 1 - 3 March.
(LA)HORDE, known for merging choreography with pop culture, has led the Ballet National de Marseille since 2019, boasting collaborations with music icons like Madonna, Sam Smith, and Christine and the Queens. This marks their inaugural London presentation, promising an exciting fusion of dance and artistic influences.

Dancers from Ballet National de Marseille will showcase six diverse pieces, curated by (LA)HORDE, to celebrate the collective's influences. From minimalist to hyper-realist styles, the programme features works by renowned choreographers, including (LA)HORDE themselves, Peeping Tom, Claude Brumachon, Benjamin Lamarche, Lucinda Childs, and Cecilia Bengolea with François Chaignaud. These selections pay tribute to choreographers who have shaped (LA)HORDE's perspective, challenging notions of archives and heritage through appropriation and re-appropriation. Each piece offers a unique narrative, from Grime Ballet's fusion of electronic music and dancehall to Weather is Sweet's exploration of self-love and Oiwa's interpretation of Japanese folklore. Concerto and Les Indomptés offer their distinct choreographic styles, while Room With A View encapsulates the anger and quest for meaning in contemporary society.
