Belmond unveils the Britannic Explorer luxury sleeper train for England and Wales
Launching in July 2025, this innovative train blends British heritage, fine dining, and cultural exploration for an unforgettable travel experience.
Belmond has announced the launch of the Britannic Explorer, A Belmond Train, the first luxury sleeper train dedicated to England and Wales. Set to begin its maiden journey in July 2025, the train represents a new era of slow travel, fusing traditional rail elegance with modern British gastronomy, design, and culture. This extraordinary experience will feature three-night journeys departing from London, exploring the natural splendours of Cornwall, the Lake District, and Wales, with an option to combine regional routes for extended adventures. On board, passengers can enjoy bespoke cultural programming, wellness therapies, and culinary excellence led by renowned Chef Simon Rogan.
The Britannic Explorer’s routes are crafted to immerse passengers in the landscapes and heritage of Britain. During the day, off-train excursions include private tours, guided hikes, and visits to exclusive cultural landmarks such as Hauser & Wirth Somerset and Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens. By night, the train becomes a social haven with a botanically inspired Observation Car Bar, where guests can sip artisan cocktails and mingle. The onboard atmosphere, designed by acclaimed studio Albion Nord, combines heritage motifs with a serene colour palette inspired by Britain’s natural beauty, creating an ambience of sophisticated tranquillity.
Dining aboard the Britannic Explorer promises to be a highlight of the journey. Chef Simon Rogan, celebrated for his farm-to-fork philosophy and eight Michelin stars, has curated a menu that showcases the finest local, sustainable ingredients. Each route will offer distinct culinary experiences, reflecting the rich flavours and traditions of the regions visited. Rogan’s innovative approach ensures that every meal connects guests with Britain’s landscapes, making dining an integral part of the adventure.
Beyond the sumptuous food and breathtaking views, the Britannic Explorer’s luxurious interiors redefine comfort and style. The train features 18 cabins, including three Grand Suites, all crafted in Britain. These elegantly designed spaces offer a private retreat inspired by the rugged coastlines and rolling hills visible through panoramic windows. From the onboard spa to the restaurant and bar cars, every detail is designed to make the journey as memorable as the destinations.
The launch of the Britannic Explorer expands Belmond’s already iconic UK portfolio, which includes the British Pullman and Royal Scotsman trains, as well as luxury hotels such as The Cadogan in London. Offering an unparalleled combination of heritage, innovation, and luxury, the Britannic Explorer promises to redefine rail travel in England and Wales.
