Brainstorms: A Great Gig in the Sky takes up residency at Frameless London
Dive into the fusion of Pink Floyd's music and cutting-edge neuroscience as Frameless London presents an immersive exploration of the mind's response to music.
This June, Frameless London invites music enthusiasts and curious minds to embark on a revolutionary exploration of the interplay between music and the human brain. Titled Brainstorms: A Great Gig in the Sky, this immersive residency offers an intriguing experience at the intersection of art, neuroscience, and technology. Inspired by Pink Floyd's iconic 1973 track, 'The Great Gig in the Sky,' the showcase aims to capture and visualise brain activity in response to music.
Through state-of-the-art technology and immersive soundscapes, visitors to the four main Frameless galleries will delve into the depths of their own neural responses. From cloud formations to mesmerising starling murmurations, each visual element intricately reflects the emotions evoked by music. Pioneering musician Imogen Heap and her nine-year-old daughter, participants in the initial brain data capture, will have their pre-recorded brainwaves showcased in the βMurmurationsβ Gallery, synchronised with Imogen's ambient track Cumulus in surround sound.
Gala Wright, Brainstorms' curator and daughter of Pink Floyd's Richard Wright, believes visualising brain data offers an intuitive way to understand music's personal and shared nature. "This exploration of my father's compositions is deeply personal to me," Gala shares, "enhancing his musical legacy through the Brainstorms project is incredibly meaningful."
Date: June 2024. Location: 6 Marble Arch, London W1H 7AP. Price: Β£30. A strictly limited number of VIP tickets are available that include the brain data capture experience.Book now.
