Eva Fàbregas: Devouring Lovers exhibition at Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin
Eva Fàbregas redefines sculptural boundaries in 'Devouring Lovers,' a sensual and spatial experience at Hamburger Bahnhof.
Eva Fàbregas, a celebrated Spanish artist renowned for her monumental and sensually crafted installations, showcases her latest work, Devouring Lovers, at the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin, marking her largest solo exhibition to date. This exhibition challenges traditional sculptural boundaries, transforming the museum's central hall into a surreal forest of fleshy, biomorphic forms suspended from iron girders, each resonating with internal sound components. The result is an immersive experience that seamlessly blends the organic and the mechanical, blurring the lines between the human, the non-human, and the technically generated worlds, in sorts reflecting our reality.
Devouring Lovers stands as a testament to Fàbregas's artistic skill, pushing the limits of sculptural art and offering an exploration of unique spatial encounters within the historic Hamburger Bahnhof. Drawing inspiration from human anatomy, prosthetics, and various life forms, Fàbregas crafts sculptures that engage our senses and curiosity. Her sculptures encourage touch, allowing for a sense of physical closeness, challenging our perceptions of identity and desire. This relaxed and transformative experience becomes evident as you stroll through the exhibition.
Devouring Lovers feels like more than just an exhibition; it extends an invitation to delve into the marvels of artistic expression—a playground of creativity. The pastel-hued, fleshy forms suspended from iron girders, accompanied by embedded sound components, create an immersive space where the boundaries between artist, audience, and artwork blur into a bubble of sensation.
