Save the Children launches pre-loved jumper store in Covent Garden
Save the Children launches pre-loved jumper store in Covent Garden for Christmas Jumper Day.
Save the Children is upping the ante for Christmas Jumper Day with something pretty cool this year β the 'Story Knits' store popping up in Covent Garden from 1 - 7 December 2023. It's a vintage treasure trove of jumpers, handpicked by Beyond Retro, representing the stories of 91 childrenβthe number helped by the Save the Children every minute worldwide.
You can purchase these heartfelt knits for Β£30, and here's the best part: every penny goes straight to backing Save the Children's projects worldwide. Oh, and you don't have to physically be in Covent Garden to grab one β they've got an online store too.We went along to the store's a preview event led by fashion influencer Julia Restoin Roitfeld. She dishws out some style tips for rocking knitwear on Christmas Jumper Day. Gareth Owen, the Humanitarian Director at Save the Children, highlighted how the store helps people connect with the charity's causes and the kids they support. The aim? To boost the impact of Christmas Jumper Day, a fundraiser that's already raised Β£35 million since starting in 2012, benefiting children globally.
This year, they're aiming higher. To participate, simply don your preferred sustainable sweater, donate Β£2 (Β£1 for children) to Save the Children, and you're set! Should you lack a sweater, fret not. Visit The Story Knits Store in Covent Garden between 1 December and Christmas Jumper Day to acquire a cozy jumper and contribute positively to a noble cause!
Date: 1- 7 December 2023. Opening hours: 11am β 2pm and 4.30pm β 7.30pm. Location: 5-7 Shorts Garden, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9AZ.
