V&A East Storehouse to open in May 2025 at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
New cultural landmark will offer unparalleled public access to national collections through an innovative “Order an Object” experience.

The V&A announced that its groundbreaking new site, the V&A East Storehouse, will open on 31 May 2025, in the heart of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park’s East Bank. Designed by acclaimed architects Diller, Scofidio + Renfro, this 16,000m² facility will be the world’s first cultural store of its scale, housing over 250,000 objects, 350,000 books, and nearly 1,000 archives. Visitors will have free access to an experience exploring works spanning every creative discipline, from Biba and Balenciaga to the Ballets Russes and the Sex Pistols to Samurai swords.
V&A East Storehouse will introduce an innovative seven-day “Order an Object” service, letting visitors pre-book objects online to view up-close. This unique feature caters to anyone seeking creative inspiration—from students to designers—making it possible to explore artefacts in unprecedented detail. Beyond its vast collection, the site will offer self-guided tours to understand object conservation, curation processes, and the latest research, along with live events and workshops in two creative studios.
More than just a collection site, V&A East Storehouse aims to support London’s creative community and inspire future generations. With its engaging “Your Collection: V&A East in Schools” programme, career initiatives, and community events, V&A East Storehouse will open up new pathways into the arts, especially for young people. The storehouse is part of the larger V&A East project, which includes a second site, the V&A East Museum, set to open in 2026 to celebrate the transformative power of creativity in shaping culture.
