Meet the Artists

As part of Collect Open 2025, a platform dedicated to groundbreaking craft installations by individual artists, we spoke to two of this year’s featured participants:

  • Darren Appiagyei presents What Grows in the Dark Comes to Light, a collection of ten sculptural vessels inspired by his personal journey of loss and resilience. His work, crafted through woodturning, explores the natural textures and organic growth patterns found in timber, reflecting themes of transformation and healing. Read our interview with Darren Appiagyei.

  • Huimin Zhang debuts her series Live Like a Summer Flower - Golden Breast, where she merges traditional goldsmithing techniques with contemporary aesthetics. Working with 22K gold, Zhang’s intricate creations highlight the delicacy and strength of metal, pushing the boundaries of craftsmanship while preserving age-old techniques. Read our interview with Huimin Zhang.

We also visited Galerie Melissa Paul, a first-time exhibitor at Collect Art Fair 2025. Founder Melissa Paul guided us through the work of Agnès Debizet, a renowned French ceramicist and sculptor known for her striking, otherworldly pieces. Click here for a sneak peek at Debizet’s work.
