Art exhibitions to see at Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Art in 2025

Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Art (Goldsmiths CCA), located on the campus of Goldsmiths, University of London, has announced its exhibition programme for 2025. From immersive digital worlds to poignant reflections on the female experience, this year’s exhibitions promise to push boundaries, provoke conversation, and offer deep insights into contemporary art practices. Below are the key exhibitions scheduled for the year:

Episode 14: Eunjo Lee

Eunjo Lee, an artist and filmmaker based between London and Seoul, is the latest to feature in Goldsmiths CCA’s ongoing commissioning series Episodes. Lee’s new digital work, When Forgiving the Sunlight, constructs an immersive dystopian world drawn from a blend of mythologies and collective unconscious. The narrative follows beings who transition from human form to pure light, ultimately merging with a world tree. Lee’s 3D experimental animations and video art delve into the liminal space of creation, exploring cycles of life, death, and transformation.

Milly Thompson

This exhibition celebrates the work of Milly Thompson (1964–2022), a prolific painter, sculptor, and video artist who was part of the renowned artist group BANK. Thompson’s works, created from 2010 onwards, challenge luxury consumer culture and celebrate the power of the middle-aged female body. The exhibition features her distinctive blend of irony and sincerity, exploring themes of sensual self-reinvention through visual narratives influenced by romantic novels, escapist summer holidays, and powerful female desire. Films and paintings in this show create a richly layered atmosphere of excess, glamour, and liberated femininity.

Date: 5 June – 24 August 2025.

Sophie Podolski: Wisdom Should Be Sung

This marks the first solo UK exhibition of Sophie Podolski’s work, a visionary artist who tragically died at 21. Known for her graphic poems, drawings, and an unfinished novel, Podolski’s work presents a haunting, phantasmagoric vision of the world. As a part of the countercultural Montfaucon Research Center, Podolski’s output, produced in a remarkably short period of time, defies conventional norms. Her work reflects on madness, transcendence, and personal freedom, offering profound insight into the artistic and literary avant-garde of her time. This exhibition includes drawings, etchings, and archival materials, exploring her radical creativity.

Date: 5 June – 24 August 2025.

Lawrence Lek

In September, Goldsmiths CCA will present the largest UK institutional exhibition of London-based artist Lawrence Lek. Known for his use of video games, installation, film, and soundscapes, Lek’s work engages with speculative futures, particularly through his concept of ‘Sinofuturism’. This exhibition will feature a range of new and existing works, including the thought-provoking NOX, an exploration of the promises and challenges posed by artificial intelligence and China’s growing technological influence. Lek’s works are dark yet playful, inviting viewers to reflect on what it means to exist in an age of machine consciousness and technological change.

Date: 25 September – 14 December 2025.
