Bold Tendencies returns for summer 2024
Bold Tendencies is back for the summer season, transforming a disused car park in Peckham into an arts venue throughout the summer. This year’s theme, Communion, explores community resilience in crises, featuring works by artists like Saelia Aparicio, Adam Farah-Saad, Olu Ogunnaike, Yoko Ono, and Martin Parr.
This summer will feature an extensive programme of classical music, dance, and literature. Highlights include performances by pianist Maki Namekawa, singer Julia Bullock with Bretton Brown, and composer Oliver Leith.
A centenary tribute to James Baldwin includes events with NYJO, the London Review of Books, and The Listening Room. Dance duo BULLYACHE and guest artistic director Oona Doherty will present new works, and the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée will perform a multinational programme.
The season opens with a concert of six centuries of song featuring four choirs and The Bold Chorus, and closes with Mahler's Symphony No. 2, ‘Resurrection’ by the Philharmonia Orchestra and Chorus. Literature and reflection events explore Franz Kafka’s work and feature a conversation with Paul B. Preciado. Celebrations of Fitzcarraldo Editions and Merky Books honour literary achievements. Their extensive summer programme of classical music, dance, and literature cements Bold Tendencies as a key part of London’s summer arts scene.
While visiting Bold Tendencies, be sure to check out Frank's Cafe, the rooftop cafe and restaurant. It's a laid-back spot offering drinks, food, and fantastic views of the city. They serve brunch on weekends, featuring options like Bloody Marys, scrambled eggs with bacon on toast, and mushrooms with spinach on toast.
