Canary Wharf welcomes new murals at London Mural Festival
Canary Wharf is celebrating the London Mural Festival with the unveiling of three new permanent murals that focus on themes of community and connection. This collaboration with Global Street Art builds on the success of Camille Walala’s Captivated by Colour and enhances the area’s reputation for public art. Located on Bellmouth Passage by Crossrail Place Quayside, these murals are created by UK-based female artists Zoë Power, Hixxy, and Venessa Scott, each drawing inspiration from the vibrant character of East London.
Each artist brings a unique vision to their work, contributing to a compelling visual narrative. Hixxy’s We’re Not Anybody, Without Everybody Else explores memory and connection through layered silhouettes, while Zoë Power’s Our Skyline adds colour and energy to the urban landscape with references to the Thames. Venessa Scott’s Neighbourhood evokes the essence of a woven tapestry, reflecting the rich cultural fabric of Canary Wharf. Together, these pieces not only enhance the area’s aesthetic but also resonate deeply with its community.

Lowri Harries, Associate Curator of Public Art at Canary Wharf Group, emphasises the importance of these murals in enriching the urban environment. The London Mural Festival features over 100 permanent murals across the capital, celebrating London’s diversity and inviting visitor engagement. The new artworks at Canary Wharf join the UK’s largest free-to-visit outdoor public art collection, encouraging everyone to experience how art can foster connection and community.
