The London Design Biennale to open at Somerset House in June 2023
The London Design Biennale opens at Somerset House, featuring over 40 exhibitors from around the world. This fourth edition showcases installations that tackle global challenges and inspire audiences.
Visitors can embark on a sensory journey, exploring everything from bread baking to VR gardens and ancient weaving. The Biennale takes place throughout Somerset House and offers a diverse range of experiences, from musical instruments to traditional practices, sustainability to humanitarian responses. A new addition to this year's Biennale is the EUREKA exhibition, which highlights design-led innovation from leading UK research centres. The exhibition features cross-disciplinary invention and creativity from academics, leaders, and problem solvers.
Under the theme βThe Global Game: Remapping Collaborations,β this year's Biennale encourages new forms of collaboration in response to global issues. The event also offers a rich public program, including talks, workshops, screenings, and performances. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this international design showcase and witness the power of collaboration in shaping a better world.
The London Design Biennale presents a wide range of participants, including countries like Austria, Chile, India, Japan, Malta, Nigeria, Poland, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and the USA. The EUREKA exhibition features research departments from various universities, showcasing cross-disciplinary invention and creativity. The event also includes interactive pavilions, keynote speeches, and discussions, providing a platform for engaging with design industry specialists, innovators, and academics. The Biennale aims to go beyond thematic explorations and become a testing ground for real collaborations, inspired by R. Buckminster Fuller's World Game concept. Medals will be awarded for outstanding contributions, interpretation of the theme, and exceptional design.
