Outcrop a new restaurant opening at 180 The Strand
Outcrop, opening in July at 180 Strand, will celebrate nature through food, drinks, and culture.
Outcrop is a restaurant and arts space soon to open at 180 The Strand. It is set to become a vibrant gathering place that celebrates the natural world through food, drinks, and culture. Founded by Johnny Smith and Daniel Willis, co-founders of renowned establishments like The Clove Club and Luca, along with Secret Cinema alumni Tom Allott, Andrea Moccia, and Sabrina Goreeba, Outcrop aims to connect guests with nature within London's West End providing an inner-city oasis and fostering a positive impact on the planet.
At the heart of Outcrop's mission is their restaurant, led by AngloThai's John Chantarasak. John's signature Thai cooking incorporates seasonal British vegetables, native breed animals, and line-caught fish, the menu embraces whole ingredient cooking and preservation techniques, promoting sustainability. From Root Vegetable Som Tam to Coconut Smoked Turbot Bone Broth, the dishes offer a creative fusion of flavours.
Complementing the culinary experience is Outcrop's curated drinks list by award-winning Bar Manager Rob Simpson exclusively featuring British ingredients sourced from top producers. Guests can enjoy cocktails like the British Margarita, with barley eau de vie, London honey, and gooseberry, or the refreshing Outcrop Martini, combining London dry gin with homemade herb garden vermouth. The bar collaborates with UK-based distilleries prioritising sustainability and ecological packaging.
In addition to its dining and bar offerings, Outcrop serves as a platform for arts and music. The space will host an arts and music programme, featuring an installation exploring the world beyond our senses. The musical lineup will showcase rising and established DJ talent, creating immersive sound experiences inspired by the natural world. Collaborations with artists like Chisara Agor and Esa Williams will add interdisciplinary performances that explore themes of migration, human history, spirituality, and ecology.
While initially launching for a three-month limited run at 180 The Strand, Outcrop has long-term plans to connect buildings in cities with large-scale regeneration efforts in rural areas, mobilising communities to increase biodiversity.
Outcrop opens its doors on 7 July, with operating hours from Wednesday to Friday, 5pm - 11.30pm and Saturday, 11am - Midnight. Bookings can be made now.
Location: 1 Surrey St, Temple, London, WC2R 2ND.
